When I see a sick dog on the street, I always feel incredibly distressed and want to help out in any way I can. It’s not always easy.
I don’t always find myself in a situation where I can do much, but I try to do at least something. That’s exactly how this family came across their dog.
They found an ad about him on Craigslist and decided to give her a new chance. However, what happened next completely shocked them all.
Coco’s Past
After the family from California first adopted Coco, they didn’t know that much about her. They realized her previous owner had cancer and could not care for her.
However, they realized that something wasn’t quite right. She was always sad and moody. Coco seemed frightened of everything. She was even scared to walk on grass.
They did a little digging, and then the horror of her situation revealed itself to the family. Coco was abused and likely kept in a small cage her whole life, which explains all of her trauma.
Another tragic accident happened during her visit to a clinic in California. She was pregnant, and the vet accidentally terminated the puppies during a procedure.
To make matters even worse, she had a lot of breathing and digestive problems. And she was terrified of men, likely due to her neglectful owner.
Her new owner, Henry, was confused about who did this to her. He suspected that it was not her previous owner but the one before that. She was likely raised in a puppy mill.
While her tragic past has stuck with her, Henry and his family are showering her with love and cuddles and she just loves every second of it.
They are noticing that she is slowly coming out of her shell and is realizing that these wonderful people are her new family.
Internet’s Reaction To Coco
Soon enough, Henry decided to post Coco’s story on TikTok and it gained a lot of views from many different people. People were shocked to learn about her past.
One commenter said: “Thankfully she has you now. I have Paisley a puppy mill dog. To see her run on the beach makes my heart swell. Gone from a nervous dog to a trusting dog over last 4 years.”
It’s good to know that there is hope for dogs who have suffered trauma. Seeing stories of them recovering is always heartwarming.
Another person commented: “We have a very timid rescue. Afraid of a raised voice of any kind. But she is so sweet and well behaved. Senior dog.”
Seeing this illustrates perfectly just how kind and amazing dogs are when treated right. It’s still shocking to see that there are people in this world who abuse animals like that.
Lastly, somebody said: “Thank you for being the pawrents Coco deserves. She’s a lucky girl! So many of them aren’t so lucky.”
It really is amazing that Henry and his family are doing their best for Coco. If her story can show us anything, it’s just how important it is to treat our dogs with kindness.
They are our best friends and I am so happy to see that this sweet doggo’s life is now heading in a better direction. She deserves all the best.
