Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney has ticked off a major bucket-list moment as she was seen plunging 10,000 feet in a daring skydive – despite her latest film struggles
Sydney Sweeney has soared to new heights as she embarks on a new phase of her career.
The Euphoria actress recently crossed off a major item from her bucket list, plunging from 10,000 feet alongside Red Bull Air Force expert Luke Aikins. Documented in an exciting Instagram video, Sydney, 27, described it as “probably the coolest thing I’ve ever had the opportunity of doing.”
The heart-pounding dive featured the star safely harnessed to Aikins, an experienced skydiver who made headlines in 2016 for his historic leap from an aircraft without a parachutetouching down unharmed in a net. Her independent western film Americana, in which she portrays a diner server pursuing country music fame, generated only $500,000 during its US opening weekend at theaters.
The supporting cast includes Halsey, Eric Dane, and Simon Rex alongside Sweeney. Americana – previously called National Anthem – debuted at SXSW more than two years ago, but has faced challenges securing widespread commercial success, reports the Express US.
Beyond this project, Sydney has completed production on Eden, Ron Howard’s forthcoming survival drama inspired by actual events on the Galapagos Islands. She embodied German colonist Margret Wittmer and appears with Jude Law and Ana de Armas.
The picture, formerly known as Origin of Species, arrives in American theaters this Friday despite receiving lukewarm early feedback from reviewers.
The actress is also set to attend the world premiere of Christy, a biopic about pioneering boxer Christy Martin, at next month’s Toronto International Film Festival. For this role, she underwent extensive mixed martial arts training and reportedly packed on 30 pounds of muscle.
Off-screen, the star of White Lotus is making waves as a producer. She’s both executive producing and starring in The Housemaid, a psychological thriller adapted from Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel, which is slated for release this Christmas.
Fans are also eagerly anticipating her return to Euphoria as Cassie Howard in the show’s highly awaited third season, which will introduce new cast members, including Sharon Stone and Rosalia.
She has roles lined up across film, television, and streaming platforms – including projects with Colman Domingo, Jon M. Chu, and even Michael Bay – despite facing backlash in recent weeks.
This follows the backlash the actress faced for appearing in a recent American Apparel advertisement.
Sweeney was shown in an all-denim outfit, reclining while stating, “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color,” before finishing with, “My jeans are blue.”
The commercial’s tagline read, “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans,” but numerous critics online called it “tone-deaf” and compared it to “Nazi propaganda.” However, it seems she has now moved past the backlash.
