“Resilient Pup: Dog Born Without Back Legs Masters Balancing Act with Loving Owner’s Support”

An adorable dog who was ᴀʙᴀɴᴅᴏɴᴇᴅ and ʟᴇꜰᴛ to ᴅɪᴇ Has Learned To Balance On Front Legs Thanks To Her Kind Owner.

Six-year-old Putol, who was born with the ᴅᴇꜰᴏʀᴍɪᴛʏ, is now often seen running with other dogs and exploring the streets of Casiguran in Quezon City, Philippines. With the help of her owner Danilo Codilego Jr, Putol,  a truck driver which translates to ‘ᴄʜᴏᴘᴘᴇᴅ’ in the Tagalog language of Luzon, can now balance on her own despiteɴᴏᴛ having the sᴜᴘᴘᴏʀᴛ of her two back legs . The canine, who is a major attraction in the neighbourhood due to her courage and lust for life, was brought into Mr Codilego’s life when a co-worker at his previous job turned up with four puppies.

Codilego said: “We met six years ago. I was working in a bakery then. One day a co-worker arrived with four puppies. He was trying to sell them for 5000 pesos each (£115). The other puppies sold, but nobody wanted ᴘᴏᴏʀ two-legged Putol. They didn’t think she would ʟɪᴠᴇ long. I was the only one who had the courage to take care of her. We took our chances because we took pity on her. We couldn’t think of another name except for Putol.”

For the first two years of her life, Putol couldɴᴏᴛ walk, but she gradually learned to balance herself on her front legs and soon got the hang of it. She now guards the house and is extremely protective of her owner. Codilego said: “Putol acts like a guard dog – barking when a stranger is near. She also gets jealous if I pay attention to another dog. Otherwise she is friendly and much loved in the neighbourhood. When I have to travel for work, she faces no problem because everyone takes care of her. She isɴᴏᴛ picky. She likes the food that we eat. But in her condition she canɴᴏᴛ have pups.”
